Bringing a 25-year-old kitchen into the modern era requires more than just a fresh coat of paint; it takes a vision for better flow and smarter storage. At Cabinet Refresh, we recently had the pleasure of transforming a Los Angeles home by doing exactly that. The centerpiece of this project was a stunning shift from dated oak to a sophisticated, airy blue. We used Dunn Edwards’ “Silver Storm,”(see below) a color that perfectly balances serenity with modern style.
The homeowners said that, “the original kitchen felt cramped and inefficient. Our consultation process, led by co-owner Carole, focused on identifying ‘dead zones’ and reimagining them for the way we actually live. Our kitchen was over 25 years old and badly outdated. Carole had great ideas on maximizing the space we had. For example, a closet used to store mops and brooms was transformed into a pantry with sliding drawers.
By removing a bulky wall oven and an old cooktop, we were able to install a sleek slide-in range. This simple change opened up counter space and drastically improved the “working triangle” of the kitchen. Even a small, unused wine rack was converted into deep sliding drawers for much-needed storage.” I love how this renovation is a perfect example of how we don’t want to leave our clients with a rushed job, we take the time to make every aspect of their project better. This kitchen is going to be well loved for many more years.
